Closer Look: Engineered Garments FW24 IAC Pant

Known for their stylish military attire, the Italian Armed Forces’ uniforms have influenced various fashion designs, including this piece by Engineered Garments.

The Engineered Garments IAC Pant, introduced in the Fall/Winter 2021 collection, draws inspiration from the Italian Army’s Modello Roma 75 uniform, a battledress that replaced the outdated M1955 fatigues in 1971.

The IAC Pant retains several distinctive features of the original Modello Roma 75 trousers, such as the wide leg that tapers towards the bottom, facilitating ease of movement and layering. A notable element is a zippered hem designed to accommodate army boots that extend above the ankle. It enables wearers to adjust the hem size based on their preference to wear the pants over or under shoes. This design choice enhances functionality and adds a subtle contrast at the hem – characteristic of Engineered Garments’ attention to detail.

Reinforced knee patches with topstitching provide extra durability, aligning with the brand’s commitment to practical design. Additionally, the IAC Pant features two front flap pockets and two rear flap pockets, offering ample storage space. A drawstring waist allows for an adjustable fit, catering to individual comfort preferences.

By reimagining the Modello Roma 75 trousers, Engineered Garments pays homage to Italian military design while infusing contemporary elements that resonate with modern aesthetics. The IAC Pant artfully balances historical inspiration with innovative tailoring.

The IAC Pant is available in the following fabrics:

  • Black Cotton Brushed Herringbone
