ENGINEERED GARMENTS × JOSEPH CHEANEY: CAIRNGORM EG

Nepenthes Los Angeles presents an exclusive collaboration between Engineered Garments and Joseph Cheaney, the storied Northampton-based shoemaker founded in 1886.

The Cairngorm EG reinterprets Cheaney’s iconic Cairngorm IIR through the lens of Engineered Garments. Built on the 4436 Last, originally developed for British military footwear, the silhouette combines a robust foundation with a relaxed, comfortable fit. The use of rare Veldtschoen construction, where the upper is stitched over the sole, minimizes gaps and enhances waterproofing. This is paired with a bellows tongue to provide further protection from the elements.

In a playful twist, Engineered Garments introduces asymmetry with a D-ring detail on only one side of the upper. The traditional commando sole is replaced with a lightweight Vibram Morflex sole for all-day comfort and ease of movement.

Available in Black and Burgundy, this limited-edition release blends heritage British craftsmanship with Engineered Garments’ forward-thinking approach to design.
