EG Workaday exists beyond season, trend, or theme. Conceived by designer Daiki Suzuki as a line of essential, everyday clothing, Workaday specializes in authentic specifications and orthodox construction methods. Daiki describes it as “our basic everyday wear, a uniform that serves as the foundation for daily styling.”
Rooted in the same military and workwear traditions that inform much of Engineered Garments, Workaday distills these references to their most functional forms. Each item is made to be durable, versatile, and faithful to its source material while avoiding direct reproduction. The silhouettes are slightly roomier than their Engineered Garments counterparts, designed with comfort and movement in mind.

For Fall Winter 2025, Workaday continues this approach with a focused delivery that includes the Utility Shirt, Salvage Smock, Utility Jacket, and Short Jacket. Each style reflects a deep appreciation for purpose-built clothing, updated subtly through proportion, fabric, and finish.

The Utility Jacket reinterprets the U.S. Navy’s N-3 Utility Jacket, part of the World War II era “Utility” series. Originally made from lightweight herringbone twill for tropical service, this version preserves key historical details such as three patch pockets, a spread collar, and metal donut buttons, while adding discreet updates like an interior pocket and unpainted hardware for tonal contrast.
The Salvage Smock draws from the U.S. Navy Decontaminate Smock, often referred to as a “Gunner” or “Salvage” smock. Its pullover design and relaxed fit embody the utilitarian spirit of mid-century naval gear, adapted for modern use. The Utility Shirt carries similar maritime DNA, with a practical, easy-wearing structure that hints at the blue-collar work shirts of the same era.

The Short Jacket channels the compact, functional shape of mid-century work jackets. Its clean, cropped lines and structured silhouette offer both familiarity and precision without direct reference.

The FW25 delivery showcases an especially rich material selection. Alongside mainstays like Indigo 4.5oz Cotton Chambray, Olive Cotton Ripstop, and 12oz Indigo Cone Denim, woven at the now-closed Cone Mills in North Carolina, are special fabrics chosen for this season: Hunter Green Cotton Twill Plaid, Dark Navy Poly Wool Twill Gabardine, Camel Cotton Moleskin, and Cotton Micro Sanded Twill. Together they emphasize the tactile quality and quiet depth that define Workaday’s identity.
Workaday represents a long-term idea of clothing: reliable, adaptable, and built to age with the wearer. Each piece connects back to Engineered Garments’ foundation, an appreciation of American workwear and New York pragmatism.
